No, I'm Taller

The sibling rivalry between these two women, as girls and even now, is the family joke their dad wanted to capture. His memory of them growing up was always the fight over who was taller.

As adults both have their own directions, but they still enjoy each other immensely and spend a lot of time together.

In this painting I was able to play with that rivalry. One daughter became a lawyer, hence the law books she is standing on and the judge’s wig on her designer handbag. The other became an accountant, so she stands on her tax textbooks with her calculator at hand for when the bill comes.

They both have their dogs, who like to pass judgment on the scenes they witness. You can tell from their faces that they are quite sick of the goings on. I was also given information on their dress and jewellery styles, and on their favourite bar for drinking champagne together.
