Puppy Love

This painting was a gift for my client's son and daughter in law, the two of them heading down to fish on the Noosa river with their new little puppy along for the trip.

Painting a couple from behind is its own challenge. There is no face to work with, so the likeness has to come from the height difference between them, their body shapes, and the way they stand together. Get that wrong and it is nobody.

She has the puppy in a basket, he has the rods over his shoulder, and the whole thing is quiet greys but for a few touches of red.
